In September 2000, International Ice Stars Alexei Kislitsyn and Natalia Pestova organised a day out to Blackpool for over 100 children from Rossendale - the first "Rossendale Children's Day"

The party of lucky children were waved off from Rawtenstall by Town Crier Peter Gill and Mayor & Mayoress David and Denise Hancock.

Travelling on specially chartered buses the children aged between 7 and 15 were off to Blackpool to enjoy Skating Sessions with the Russian stars at the Blackpool Ice Arena followed by free rides on the famous Pleasure Beach, rounding off the day by watching Natalia and Alexei perform as stars of the show in the popular Hot Ice Show.

Alexei & Natalia with some of the lucky children taken to Blackpool for the dayRossendale Children's Day is now firmly established in Rossendale's annual calender, with the 2001-2003 event voted a resounding success, and Natalia and Alexei are busy organising this years event (2004), which will run from 26th December 2004 - 2nd January 2005.
